From the boat

This serigraph, (silkscreen print), was created from fragmented memories I had when I was about nine years old in Switzerland. I had been left by adults sitting on the floor at one end of an open sailboat for what felt like all afternoon. I tried not to look at the deep dark water. I didn't want to go there. Seagulls kept me company visiting occasionally and sitting on the wooden worn piece of wood above me that the boat was tied up to. Across the bay I could see buildings with archways and a domed roof. What was in there?
The edges of my image had to be as ragged and disjointed as I felt that day. I'd been told not to move otherwise I would die. So I just looked.
